Mera Peak

Two trekkers near the summit - Mera Peak trek, Nepal

At a height of 6,476 metres, Mera Peak is considered the highest trekking peak in Nepal. The trip starts with a short stay in Kathmandu to see the sights, purchase equipment and acclimatise. This is followed by a short flight to Lukla in the Everest (Khumbu) region of Nepal.  The trek to Mera Peak Base Camp then takes around six days.

The challenge of climbing Mera Peak attracts many because of its height, coupled with the fact that it does not require technical expertise. The whole adventure will take three weeks in total and allows plenty of time for the group to acclimatise, essential for anyone wishing to summit this mountain.  The reward is a quite spectacular panoramic view.  From the summit, a range of famous 8,000 metre Himalayan peaks such as Makalu, Cho Oyu and Everest can be seen.

The height and altitude of this mountain makes it a demanding climb, so a very good level of fitness is required.  The climb will be staffed with a strong team of high altitude Sherpas to guide and assist the climbers as necessary and a team of low altitude Sherpas and porters to organise the equipment and food for everyone.

This climb is a great challenge and a fabulous experience, right in the heart of the Everest (Khumbu) region of Nepal.

"My trip to Mera Peak was the most challenging and the best time of my life. I have grown so much as a human being spiritually, physically and emotionally. To be that close to the Intense power of nature has inspired me to live my life with clarity, humility and humanity. I will never forgot Nepal and Its wonderful people. I feel Nepal is part of me forever." Jenny Kosmowsky
