This trip lasts two weeks and includes time in the fascinating city of Kathmandu on the first day before flying the next day to Lukla, deep in the Himalayas. You will visit the stunning Everest region of Nepal and see some of the most famous mountains in the area. These include Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and Ama Dablam.
The trip involves gentle walking with Sherpa Guides and porters and staying in Tea Houses or lodges along the way. The people of this region are primarily Buddhist and being part of their world is an inspiring and thought provoking experience. There are numerous monasteries along the route and time can be spent meditating, observing the lifestyle of the monks and interacting with these gentle humble people. There is flexibility in the number of visits to monasteries the group can undertake depending on individual interest.
For many years it was traditional that the middle son of a family would enter the local monastery and while this is no longer so strictly followed, the strength of their faith is very apparent in the way they live their lives.
This walk is a very peaceful experience, with warm, sunny weather, a relaxed pace and wonderful people who are delighted to meet you. A great way to relax and ‘switch off’ from the pressures of modern life.
